Welcome to the root zone – the original dark web
This talk looks at the nature and properties of soils and the complex
interactions that occur in the root zones of our gardens.   It does so
from a practical gardener’s perspective and attempts to provide a soil
user’s manual.
The suitability of different soil types for demanding plant groups will
be covered as will composts and composting.
Good and bad gardening practices in relation to soil conservation and
fertility will be discussed and practical measures suggested.

Gardens open from 12:30pm Talk 1:30pm Tea/Coffee biscuits available in
the classroom.
