Visiting the gardens

The gardens can be found at:

57 Thwaite Street,
Cottingham,
East Yorkshire.
HU16 4QX

Gardens opening times are 1pm to 3pm on Tuesdays, and 9.30am to 2pm on Fridays.
Please note on-site parking is limited
The 104 and 105 buses stop just outside the Gardens

Disability Access
  • Disabled parking inside main entrance
  • Accessible WC located within the classroom
  • Varying paths around the gardens with bark/ grass/ gravel areas
  • Narrow entrances/walkways to some of the glasshouse areas
Guidance to Help You Enjoy the Gardens Safely

DO

  • Wear appropriate footwear and clothing and keep to the paths where possible
  • Look out for trip hazards e.g. tree roots, stumps, ivy and for low branches
  • Take care in wet conditions when certain areas could be slippery
  • Be aware that there may be moving vehicles and grounds maintenance equipment being operated around the site
  • Handle plants as little as possible and wash hands before eating or drinking anything

DO NOT

  • Pick flowers, foliage or cut branches unless you have had permission (some plants may be poisonous or act as irritants)
  • Climb trees or walls
  • Leave any litter

Please report to a member of University staff:

  • Any accidents and near misses and ensure an accident form is completed
  • Any emergencies, suspicious activity or hazards you may find
